Artist Statement

My work primarily focuses on the human figure, exploring and combining traditionally male and female features and anatomy. In doing so, my work invites the viewer to question the rigid gender binary. I have been exploring and transforming in terms of gender identity in my own life, and my work often reflects this.

The work is typically painted on found wood in brilliant colors of acrylic and house paint. My faces often include layers of found objects and materials—clippings from vintage magazine ads, scraps of discarded clothing—creating dimension and adding depth of character.

As my appearance and gender identity continue to develop, so will the figures in my work.
