The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls. -Pablo Picasso
About halfway through last year, I struggled to really break out of my creative shell and found myself making excuses not to create as opposed to finding excuses to spend time creating.
But, once the new year rolled around, I felt the creative spark light up again and it felt like it was time to wash the dust away!
And, here I am just two months into a new year, creating and expanding more than I ever did in the previous six months before that.
Not only have I continued to expand on the ever popular art necklaces, but I also have been exploring the world of clay again. I've already created two pieces using wood canvas and paper clay (One of which has already sold and the other is being shown at a local gallery through the end of the month)
Perhaps, it's the fact that it is a new year, or perhaps it's the fact that I am now in my third trimester of pregnancy (feeling the deadline of the approaching "no sleep" and having two minis around the house) that I have this sense of urgency to create and explore new things, but whatever the reason, I am loving it.
I am by no means an "on demand" artist; so if, what, and how I create is heavily influenced by my mood and right now the mood is right, so I am taking advantage of it!
Hope everyone is getting off to a great start in 2013!
