I love to doodle and I always have. To this day, I can go back and look at old school notebooks, worksheets, and even tests and find an endless assortment of sketches, drawings and doodles.
I drew on paper, I drew on myself, I even loved to draw on the bottoms of my shoes; knowing that within a day or two the soles would wear down and a fresh canvas would present itself.
I remember my mother's endless sighs when I would come home from school, covered in ink and marker. I'm sure she considered it a phase, but alas, to this day, I'll still sketch on the back of my hand when inspiration strikes. I even have two additional canvases who just LOVE it when mommy draws "Pretty pictures" on their hands too.
I never quite know what to do with my doodles. I've tried incorporating them into various creations, but over the years, very little has actually been done with these "Instant Artworks".
But, a few years ago I started volunteering for a small family run Educational Sanctuary for animals and I got involved in the website and merchandise areas and got a taste for designing shirts, mugs, stickers etc.
It wasn't until recently, a friend really persuaded me to put some more thought and heart into really seeing what I could make of it, that I decided to start making a concentrated effort.
The last week or so, I've been working on new drawings, researching the right venue for my work and just laying the foundation to start producing my own merchandise. I am please to say that tonight I started a new shop through Spreadshirt and although it is still very small, I am adding new items every night (and will eventually be transferring my CafePress items over as well).
I also splurged and got myself a Yoga sweatshirt (which, if California's heat keeps up, may prove a ridiculous purchase) to try out the item myself. I will be sure and post updates when it arrives!
