I'm a mixed media artist
who creates unique works of art using acrylic paint and recycled
paper. I am constantly collecting
old greeting cards, wrapping paper, paper bags, scrap bits of craft
paper...basically, if it's paper and it's colorful...I'll probably
use it.
I've been a creator my entire life. I studied art in bits and pieces throughout my childhood and started my degree in college as an art major, but ended up studying a more broad range of subjects (in other words...I took lots of classes, for lots of years, in lots of subjects, and ended up with a degree in Liberal Arts)
My passion for mixed media mosaics was born after a weekend tile mosaic class with a friend. Although, I loved creating mosaics, I was moderately terrified of working with actual tile and grout again...due to a minor habit of being an extremely clumsy and accident prone person. So, instead I started cutting up old greeting cards we had lying around the house to glue to paper so I could “practice” the art of mosaic work. It was during that time that I began to really fall in love with paper mosaics, and my artistic path was illuminated.
On any given day you'll find me balancing between being a wife, a mother, and being hunched over my art table, covered in paint, furiously gluing tiny paper tiles to my latest creation. It's a beautiful chaos and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lauren
